22-Coyote Melon or Coyote Gourd or Cucurbita californica or Cucurbita palmata

Wild-growing in desert environments (USA, Mexico). It looks almost exactly like a young buffalo gourd. It's known to be a coyote snack (hence the name), it's uneatable for humans.
Some botanists say that Cucurbita californica or Cucurbita palmata are different species because of differences in foliage and fruit size.
Similar wild-growing fruits (only visible difference often being leaves surrounding the squash): Cucurbita cordata, Cucurbita cylindrata, and Cucurbita digitata.

23- Crown Prince Squash

Medium to big. Flattened.With bluish or greyish moderately ribbed skin and orange flesh. The rind can be smooth or covered with spots and small bumps. This squash is hard to carve because of its thick flesh. It's perfect for cooking, canning, and baking.

24 - Carnival Squash

Small and medium, deeply ribbed. It has a beautifully speckled rind and can charm with a variety of colors (orange, yellow, and green) depending on its maturity. Tastes similar to butternut squash. Great for steaming and roasting.

26 - Cinderella Pumpkin or Rouge Vif D’Etampe

French variety.  Beautifully ribbed. Wide & chubby, flattened (great for the decor purposes). Resembles Cinderella's carriage. Color range: red & deep orange, sometimes with pink undertones. The flesh is creamy and can be used for making pies and purees.

Small and medium. Round to oblong-shaped with smooth white skin & gentle ribs. The thick, sweet orange flesh is ideal for baking purposes.

28 - Cotton Candy Pumpkin

Another white variety. Round (less likely oblong-shaped) small to medium with smooth moderately ribbed skin and short sturdy handles. Its flesh is also white! It's sweet and great for making pies and other desserts.

Round, small to medium with a hard & strong handle. It has a beautiful bright orange color. Makes for a great decor piece. Its flesh is perfect for making pies and canning.

Carving pumpkin type, but it's also suitable for cooking and baking. One of the oldest pumpkins around. It's medium to large, round or oblong, bright-orange with moderately ribbed skin and orange flesh.

Curved at the stem, pear-like squash. It has a yellow rind, it can be smooth or rigged (sometimes with warts and bumps). It has sweet yellow flesh.

32 - Canada Crookneck Squash

Medium-sized. Pear-shaped with a curved neck. It looks and tastes similar to butternut squash and it is, in fact, its ancestor.
It's a Winter squash type.

Cushaw types:
Green-striped (most popular): Long, pear-shaped, sometimes crooked at the top. It has silver and green streaks. Weighs up to 20 pounds. Great for roasting. Flowers, shoots, and seeds are also edible.
Gold-striped: Pear-shaped. It has yellow, orange, and white stripes and streaks instead of green and silver.
Golden: It's pear-shaped, it has yellow or orange skin. No stripes. It is slightly ribbed. It has creamy flesh. Tastes similar to sweet potatoes.
White: Pear-shaped. It has white skin & orange flesh.
Seminole Pumpkin: Smaller-sized cushaw squash. It looks almost exactly like a big pear. It can be brownish or dull-orange with delicious creamy (orange) flesh.

34- Calabaza or
West Indian Pumpkin

It is grown in a tropical climate (Caribbean, South America). Typically sold cut into pieces. Usually, it has a melon or pumpkin-like shape and dull orange rind with light spots & streaks. 35 - Chayote or Mirliton Squash



Small (10 to 12 cm). Pear-shaped or avocado-shaped with crumpled, wrinkly green skin. Some varieties have spikes. The flesh is white or light-green and somewhat bland. There's one flattened pit at the bottom of the fruit. Chayote is used for cooking (usually as an addition to stews). It originated in Mexico.

36 - Crown of Thorns or Ten Commandments Gourds


Very distinctive looking. Small & shaped like a crown. 
Sometimes covered with warts and bumps. Its mixed colors (green, deep-green, white, yellow, orange) often form breathtaking patterns. Usually used as a decoration, but it can be baked or cooked and eaten just like a regular squash.

37 - Cocozella Di Napoli Squash

Italian heirloom. It resembles a large cucumber. Sometimes curved at the top. It has ribbed green skin with white and yellow stripes, spots, and streaks. Its flesh is dense and full of flavor.

It is long & slender with very pronounced ribs. The rind is deep-green with light-green stripes and streaks.

Long, slender, slightly curved at the top and wider at the bottom. It's green and light green with deep-green stripes and light-green spots. The rind is smooth with moderate ribbing at the top of the fruit.

40 - Chinese Snake Gourd (Trichosanthes kirilowii or Guālóu)

Despite the name, it's small and oval-shaped. It's green with white spots (when immature) and bright red, orange, or yellow (when mature). The tuber of this fruit and the fruit itself are used in traditional Chinese medicine. Its flower is exceptionally beautiful (white with long, delicate, fluffy strings coming out of its petals). Its leaves and roots are poisonous.
